Brilliant article Sigal, all the commandments has been perfectly compiled. Finding the right coach is a very challenging task because we are searching for a person not a product. The eight commandment I feel is a must. In order to get along with someone it is very important to trust that person and that person in return should not trade off that trust.

Glyna, I agree. I found that is wasn't an easy task to find one but there are some that are wonderful. When we are able to listen to ourselves better, we are able to choose the people that give us a hand better.

Sigal - This is such a great guide to finding a coach! There are so many "posers" out there claiming to be gurus that it is hard to recognize a real qualified coach. With your help and these guidelines, it will be much easier. Thanks

This post is full of valuable information and especially for those who are new to coaching and don't know what questions to ask. The commandments are thorough and a great reference; every one is important to the coaching experience and it's purpose -- to guide you in reaching your destination in the most efficient and purposeful way! Thanks for sharing this! Blessings, Loren

Thanks for visiting Gavin. I have been coaching since 98. It's funny because I never really used the term coaching. I was first a graphic designer that looked for more meaning so I went and studied architecture. Then I discover that I was looking for a different kind of meaning and I studied the Grinberg Method which included reflexology and teaches one in a structured way through the body, through touch, breath, movement, physical exercises, description tools and techniques to increase one's ability to pay attention to how they create an unwanted condition and by identifying the "how" they can then stop creating it. From stomach aches, migraines, stiff neck, constipation, to procrastination, stress, lack of confidence, shyness and so forth. So when I came to the US I continued to add tools - NLP, Hypnotherapy, Pat Life Regression (and more) to this whole big tool box. My experience and training is more on the Therapeutic side, but accountability and strategy is a huge part of one's success. Sometimes when I worked with different coaches or more likely practitioners I found that I was missing something. Some had strong accountability but no broad perspective on therapy, subconscious mind work, conditioning, and others had the therapeutic perspective and approach, but no accountability, structure or if I may say holistic vision. I don't like chewing our problems, I like finding a personalized way to the client that works with who they are, with their set of circumstances and give them under one roof, the coach, the therapist, the friend and the guide that helps them to be the best they can.

Thanks Gavin,
"See" you soon.

Hi Sigal, coaches are very important for long term success. A coach is there to cheer you on when you need them to and to be tough on your when necessary!

I had a coach for many years! I don't have right now but might take one on again in the future.

How long have you been coaching for?

Thanks
