No one really likes to experience pain or fear. And emotions or feelings like anxiety, sadness, loneliness, boredom, and other similar “friends,” as I like to call them, are not our favorite either, right?
So why are they all here? Have you ever given it a thought?
I have a friend that cannot stand going to get a massage and have the massage therapist press a little too hard. She can’t stand it. For me on the other hand, if the massage therapist is not pressing deeply, I don’t feel that I got a massage.
Pain, fear, and other friends are here to teach us something about ourselves. Whether we like it or not, they show up in our lives, physically and emotionally. We do not consciously invite pain, but we definitely invite pain subconsciously. And we do that so we can pay attention to certain things our physical and emotional body is signaling to us and so we can heal.
When we embrace the perspective that pain and fear are here to teach us something, we can also take control and lead our lives in the direction we desire.

Maybe It’s Time For Another Way!
When I was 26, it was time to say goodbye to a beloved boyfriend that I was with for six years. We simply knew that as much as we love each other we got to a point where we needed to split in order to grow and evolve. It was a peaceful separation but involved the pain of needing to say goodbye. At that time I also had moved from Jerusalem to Tel-Aviv, started a new job in an architectural firm, became single again for the first time as a grown up, and I was literally shaking from fear in light of all of these unfamiliar territories.
It was no surprise that I developed this pain in my knees. At first, I thought it was due to a new exercise I was doing but after starting to work with a practitioner in the Grinberg Method, I’ve learned that the pain in my knee was related to my fears.
Soon enough, as I was working through my fears, settling down in a new city, a new job, and back into the dating world, the pain in the knees went away.

It is all designed in such a divine way to show us where attention is needed. Where we do something that is not good and healthy for us, and where we need to implement change.
The tricky part is being able to read and identify what the body, mind, and/or soul is trying to signal us. And sometimes we do need to seek the help of others.
Back in 2000, a new client came to see me after suffering for five years with migraines. She had tried many different modalities to get relief from the migraines and she did get some relief, BUT the migraines never went away.
It took one short foot analysis to find out where her migraines were coming from. The pattern that her feet showed was that she was not confronting a close person in her life. She immediately said: “Yep, it’s my mom. I don’t want to hurt her so I don’t say what I am thinking to her.” Wow! So instead, she was holding all that energy inside, getting angry and irritated internally. And being the good person and daughter she was, she “chose” unconsciously to hurt herself by keeping it all bottled up inside her, not even thinking, this behavior was creating her migraines.
Within a few sessions she became more assertive, found her true voice and was able to communicate with her mom in respectful ways, without guilt, without hurting her mom, and also keeping her own internal peace.
Many, many times the answers to our pains, fears, anxieties, and what I call “other friends” is simple. You can train yourself to read the signals, to get deep answers and free yourself from physical and/or emotional pain, you can also get help if you wish to speed up the process.
